Meet the Madring

The Madring features a red cape as used in bullfights, the colours of Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso, the yellow and pink of other matador capes and the grey of the circuit.

The Madring in Madrid is the newest circuit on the F1 calendar and uses a mix of public roads and purpose-built track, similar to the circuit in Miami.

Formula 1 has not raced in Madrid since 1981. The new track has 22 corners with the most likely to feature great levels of excitement, La Monumental, a semicircular banked corner inspired by the shape of a Spanish bullring. A 45,000-seat grandstand will provide spectators with the perfect vantage point for watching the action.

The design for this circuit includes pink and yellow, traditionally the colours of the capes used in bullfighting, and a red cape which is used at the end of the bullfight. The racing colours of Spanish drivers Carlos Sainz (light and dark blue) and Fernando Alonso (green) have also been incorporated. The grey represents the track and the seating.

Expect a mighty contest at the Madring.
