Miami, Nice

Miami F1 circuit

Impressions of Miami have been formed by watching 2 crime-solving programs – Miami Vice in the 1980s, starring  Don Johnson as James ‘Sonny’ Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Ricardo ‘Rico’ Tubbs, and later CSI: Miami, starring David Caruso as Horatio Caine and a cast of the best looking detectives and forensic experts ever. Both programs were awash in pastels and groovy people. Cars were a major part of the aesthetic of both programs. Which brings us to F1 in Miami.

When it is race week in Miami everything gets turned to saturated colours and glamorous people dancing to a party atmosphere, all centred on the Hard Rock Stadium, which has a day job as the home of the Miami Dolphins, cloaked in teal.

Part of the fun of the Circuit Maker project is sorting through the sequin and bead stash to see what is there and then seeking out any extras. Teal featured in the hunter-gathering for this circuit, with highlights of orange and pink, photographed with a pink filter. This race even features a fake marina, shown here as a row of Bugle beads in sliver, gold, blue and white.

It’s a bit wild and out there, just like race week in Miami. Oscar Piastri won last year. With a 2nd in the last race, in Suzuka, he may well be on track to take another win.
